CaseLight is an open-source case management system for the organizations doing frontline human-services work. We took a tool proven in the field, modernized and hardened it, and we host, customize, and run it, so your team can stay with the people you serve while we keep the system running.
Built for sensitive records
Case files hold the most private information an organization keeps: health histories, child-protection records, the circumstances of real families. We host CaseLight to match. Every organization runs in its own isolated database, sensitive fields are encrypted at rest, and all traffic is forced over HTTPS. Staff sign in with multi-factor authentication, including passkeys; accounts lock after repeated failed attempts, and idle sessions time out on their own. An append-only audit log keeps a tamper-evident record of who viewed or changed what. We started with security and built everything else on top of it.
What CaseLight is
CaseLight tracks what case work actually runs on: clients and families, program enrollment, assessments, and case notes, with a full audit history of every change. It is open source, containerized, and security-hardened, so the system holding your most sensitive records is one you can inspect, trust, and truly own.
Built on a foundation that works
CaseLight is a fork of OSCaR (Open Source Case-management and Record-keeping), a system designed by social workers and proven in child-protection and social-services work around the world, including Children in Families in Cambodia. We brought it up to date: off a long-unsupported Ruby on Rails onto current, supported versions, re-packaged in modern containers, with multi-factor sign-in and a hardened security posture throughout. The mission stays the same. The foundation is now built to last.
Where Lighthouse comes in
Open source is only free if you have someone to run it. We do, two ways. We offer fully managed hosting: we stand up your instance on secure infrastructure, keep it patched and backed up, and stand behind it with an in-kind service-level agreement. And we handle deployment and customization: your own build, your own fields and workflows, shaped around the programs you actually run. Both are priced to your size, the way the rest of our work is, so a serious case management system does not take a serious IT budget.

CaseLight is open source under the AGPL-3.0, built on OSCaR by Rotati Consulting and Children in Families. The code is public, and contributions are welcome, from a bug report to a new report type.
