Connect QuickBooks.
How an authorized Lighthouse administrator links the internal financial reporting application to Lighthouse's QuickBooks Online company, and how to reconnect if the link lapses.
Authorized Lighthouse administrators only.
Connecting requires a Lighthouse administrator account and administrator access to the Lighthouse Nonprofit Technologies Inc. QuickBooks Online company. The connection is started from inside the Watch Room, which will ask you to sign in. If you are not Lighthouse staff, there is nothing for you to do here.
What happens when you connect
You authorize on Intuit's site
Intuit asks you to sign in and choose the company to connect. Lighthouse never sees your Intuit password, and never asks you for it. Only the Lighthouse company may be selected.
Intuit returns you here
Intuit sends you back to a callback address on this domain with a one-time authorization code. The code is short-lived and useless on its own.
We exchange it for tokens
The code is traded for access and refresh tokens, which are encrypted and stored server-side on Lighthouse infrastructure. They are never exposed to a browser and never committed to source control.
Reporting begins
The reporting agent reads accounting data and drafts the internal financial reporting. It does not create, modify, or delete transactions. What it reads is listed in section 6 of the privacy policy.
Reconnecting
Reconnecting uses the same flow. You will need it if the application was disconnected from within QuickBooks, if authorization lapsed because the connection went unused for an extended period, or if the tokens were deliberately revoked.
A fresh authorization replaces the previous tokens rather than adding to them, so there is never more than one live connection. Reconnecting does not restore accounting data that was deleted after an earlier disconnect, and it does not change what the application is permitted to do.
Ending the connection
You can disconnect at any time from within QuickBooks Online, under Apps. What happens to the data afterward is set out on the disconnect page.
